1. SOUNDTRACK OF THE DAY
From Shanghai Beach /The New Shanghai Bund (Official site) - the theme song
2. PLACES TO KNOW
Confucian Temple - The largest and oldest Temple of Confucius is found in Confucius' hometown, present-day Qufu in Shandong Province. Confucian temples were built in prefectural and county schools throughout the empire, either to the front of or on one side of the school.
Shangai
A video focused on important sustainability questions made in 2010 by Euronews. If you watched the previous video, now watch this one. It was made by someone who wrote:"Stayed at the highest hotel (Park Hyatt) in the world, swam in the highest pool in the world, dined at the highest restaurant in the world and went to the highest library (JW Marriott) in the world... " Maybe he could use a little help from Timothy Leary. Nevertheless, the video is cool and gives you another perspective on Shangai, China.
Another video. One I thing I like to do is read the comments people leave on the videos. Some say nothing. Others, read: "I just returned from China. One of the things that was so obvious is that the new prosperity of the Chinese people is allowing them to now tour their own country. They were as excited as we were about the sights! "

And finally, if you know the movie Skyfall, you may remember the mesmerizing images of Shangai...

4. QUESTION OF THE DAY
5. INSPIRATION
The stab-binding tecnique
George Kubler’s Shape of Time - Remarks on the history of things:"Let us suppose that the idea of art can be expanded to embrace the whole range of man-made things, including all tools and writing in addition to the useless, beautiful, and poetic things of the world. By this view the universe of man-made things simply coincides with the history of art. It then becomes urgent to devise better ways of considering everything man has made. This we may achieve sooner by proceeding from art rather than from use, for if we depart from use alone, all useless things are overlooked, but if we take the desirableness of things as our point of departure, then useful objects are properly seen as things we value more or less dearly."

A History of high-heelled shoes -
To my mind, a human intellectual competence must entail a set of skills of problem solving — enabling the individual to resolve genuine problems or difficulties that he or she encounters and, when appropriate, to create an effective product — and must also entail the potential for finding or creating problems — and thereby laying the groundwork for the acquisition of new knowledge

Let's make a notebook using the stab-binding thecnique!
1. Don’t forget about Golden Proportion. 2. Be simple and lean (don’t add unnecessary decorations). 3. Learn how to stab-bind. 4. If steps 1 / 2 / 3 are ok, go to step 5 (otherwise, go back to step 1). 5. Take a picture and share it with us.
For the purpose of the course's tasks, when possible, I will try to recycle. I normaly recycle. So it's a natural habit. I did this notebook with scraps of white paper, cardboard and gift wrap paper. The thread was also a common one I found on a box. The wrap paper wasn't the best choice because it wrinkled a lot. This white paper is too soft for drawing. So this is a notebook good enough to write notes but not to sketch in it. It was a very easy and fun project. But I broke one needle! If I want to do something well I must have the right tools and the right materials.
